Hello From Byron Bay!

Hey Everyone! Here's a quick update to fill you in:

So we ended up doing 9 days of cycling in total, which got us to Coffs Harbour on February 28th. All together we cycled a total of 460km, spent just over 28 hours on our bikes, and cycled an average of 50.78 km a day, at approximately 15.75km/hour. Those are the stats - we're geeks and like to keep track of that kinda stuff!

From Coffs we bused to Byron, and that's where we have been since. After a few days in Byron we came across a poster for WWOOFING just outside Byron. WWOOFING stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms. So basically how it works is you work for a few hours every day in exchange for food and accomodation. The place we're WWOOFING at isn't an organic farm; it's called the Relan Haven, and it's kinda more like a guesthouse/retreat. We work Monday-Friday from 9am-12pm, and do really easy odd jobs. There is an english bloak named Pan who works out there as well, and he is a trained chef so the food is pretty decent. He's a bit odd, but I guess it makes things interesting.

When we're not working at the Haven we've basically been handing out resumes in Byron. Just yesterday we both landed jobs at the Byron Bay Cookie Company. Uh-oh is right! Most of you know how much we love baking!! But the job should work out well. Our shifts are from 2:30pm-10pm, and it sounds like we'll get around 3 shifts a week; possibly more around easter when things get a bit busier. We're going to see how it goes, and go from there.

I also took a trip up to Gympie from March 4th-6th tp visit my cousin Kristin and her family, and my Aunt Gail and Uncle Dennis who are over here from Prince Albert to visit them. Kristin has two kids: Blade is three, and Naree is brand new - only a couple of weeks old! I can't remember the last time I saw a baby that new - so small and fragile. She was absolutley beautiful.

It was wonderful to see them, and I had a great time relaxing and visiting in their beautiful home and playing with Blade. He's quite the little guy - very smart, and very energetic! If we weren't reading the names of his dinosaurs and butterflys, we were playing soccer or ball. And what a little fish that guy is! Paul, Kristin's husband, took us out to a water hole near their house, which was beautiful, and Blade was swimming around like a little pro.

Anyhow, I think that's all for now. We'll fill you in again when we have more to tell you!
