So Much To Do, So Little Time

Well it's hard to believe, but our time in Byron is slowly coming to an end. This past weekend we went all out and had a great time. Friday night was a night out on the town with our friend Jessie from work; Saturday was spent up at Wet 'N Wild, a huge water park an hour and a half up the coast, and then we had a BBQ at Jessie's afterwards; Sunday was a chill out day. We hung out at the beach all afternoon and then went out for supper and then back to Jessie's for Grey's Anatomy. It's kinda become a ritual the past couple weeks to spend Sundays at Jessie's watching Grey's Anatomy. She's become a really great friend, and we're really going to miss her. She even took us out last week and gave us a surfing lesson! So in exchange for that, we told her she has to come to Canada to we can show her the ropes on the prairies: take her to hockey games, teach her how to skate, and just show her an all-around good time. Believe it or not, she's actually thinking about it, and might come and visit next summer and stay for a few months. Would be pretty cool if she did.

Anyhow, this week is going to be really busy running errands and getting ready to leave Bryon. We had hoped to sell our bikes before we left Byron, but so far we haven't had any luck.

Next Tuesday will be the start of our trip up the coast to Cairns, so stay tuned! We have heaps of fun stuff planned and can't wait to tell you all about it!

What A Concert!

I don't mean to rub it in with all you Keith fans back home, but Brin and I have decided that Keith's concert was one of the best we've ever seen!

The whole day of the concert was a great one, as we were so excited for what was to come later that night! Within minutes of waking up, we both had our cowboy hats on, and they remained there for the whole day!

We bused into the city after lunch and basically just wandered around, did some shopping, and listened to Keith on my Ipod. We went to a backpacker pub for supper and some drinks, and then took the train to the Brisbane Entertainment Center.

A band called The Waifs was the opening band, and they were pretty good. Keith came on stage just after nine, and his opening some was a single from his new album called "Once In A Lifetime." We had the biggest smiles on our face, and couldn't believe that we were actually at the Keith Urban concert - and in Australia!!

He ended up playing 10 of the 12 songs from his newest album, which Brin and I bought back in March and have listened to every day since. He also played a ton of his old stuff, and Brin and I knew the words to pretty much every song. He played for well over 2 hours.

He was a super entertainer! He played an acoustic version of"Raining on Sunday", and it was fantastic! He also did a solo of "Tonight I Wanna cry", and it was pretty spectacular too! "Somebody Like You" was the last song he played before his encore, and Brin and I got up and two-stepped to that one!

It was just an all-around fantastic concert, and the memories we have will last a lifetime!

Oh - and after a weekend in Brisbane we've decided that we never want to leave Byron, and we actually called our boss from Brisbane on Friday to see if he'd filled our positions at the cookie company yet. He haden't, and said we could come back. So we've decided to keep living and working in Byron until the first weekend in June, and from there we're start our adventure up the coast!

Thanks for tuning in, and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!

6 Months - Where did they go?

Believe it or not we've already been away from home for 6 months and let me tell you, the days continue to just fly by! We've been very busy with work at the Cookie Factory, and have been working 6 or 7 days a week for pretty much the past month. However, we have this whole week off, and then we're back at the CC for only one more week and then we're done there for good! Our last day of work is the 20th of May, and from there our adventure up the east coast continues!

As for our week off, we've basically just been relaxing and running errands, and then we're heading up to Brisbane for the weekend to see Keith Urban in concert! To say we're pumped is an understatement. We went out and bought cowboy hats today, and we're hoping to get some t-shirts made up as well. Needless to say we're missing country music, so Keith is going to have to tie us over 'til we get home!

It turned out to be a great decision moving into our own place. Our rent is $110 a week each, but it's worth it to have our own space and a place to really call home. On top of that, we have a gorgeous backyard with a pool, patio, and BBQ. For the most part, we just hang out in the pool every morning before heading off to work. It's very relaxing, and even though we work 8 hours a day, we still feel like we're on holidays.

So after leaving Byron we plan on going up to Brisbane for a couple of weeks to get in a bit more work. Then it's up the east coast we go with stops at Fraser Island, the Whitsundays, Mission Beach (to skydive), the Tully River (to whitewater raft), and Cairns to venture out on the Great Barrier Reef and do a dive. It's going to be an action-packed few weeks, and we're really looking forward to it!

Plans for after Cairns are a bit up in the air, but we'll probably spend a couple more weeks in Australia before heading off to New Zealand. Our tentative goal is to be in NZ by July 16th, and then fly into Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on the 1st of August. From August 1st until we get home it'll be as much of Southeast Asia as we can fit in! We can hardly wait!

I guess that's all for now. We hoping to get pictures up after the Keith Urban concert, so keep your eyes peeled!
